ABOUT THE AUTHORS
F. Philip Rice grew up in Bartelsville, Oklahoma, and has hunted game birds in the prairie states and in Maine. Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a civil engineer for an oil company and a professor of education and religion at colleges in North Dakota and Maine. He now lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. His other books include/Amer/ca's Favorite Fishing, Hunting Dogs (with John I. Dahl), and the Outdoor Life Gun Data Book.
John I. Dahl got his early hunting experience in Minnesota, attended between the ages of eight and twenty by an Irish setter he describes as "the best natural pheasant dog I have ever hunted over." An interest in painting led to a career in art, and he has taught at two colleges. He recently resigned from teaching to devote full time to running a flourishing kennel business in Pine-hurst, North Carolina.
