Fup is a classic tale of kinship, love, magic and death, a remarkable story.
Set in the coastal hills of northern California between 1880 and the present, the story centres on three characters: two humans and a duck. Granddaddyjake Santee, 99 years old and convinced of his-immortality, is a cranky reprobate. He religiously practises his belief that drinking or Death Whisper - a 97% whiskey elixir he distills himself from a secret recipe - will keep him alive forever.
Tiny, orphaned at the age of four, is adopted by Granddaddyjake. He grows into a giant young man, as gentle as Jake is ^ belligerent. Tiny's passion is building masterfully-crafted fences around the ranch, and his nemesis is a huge old boar named Lockjaw that delights in destroying Tiny's work.
Fup is a hen mallard duckling that Tiny mysteriously discovers. She is adopted and
