On the one hand, the student
will learn what is meant by a
complete investigation and ac-
quaint himself with the elements
of proof of each of the major
offenses; while on the other, he
becomes familiar with the scien-
tific methods and the technical
resources of the police labora-
tory. The attempt has been made
throughout to lay a sufficiently
broad groundwork to enable the
reader to pursue his further re-
search intelligently.
This text is the culmination of
twenty-five years of practical ex-
perience in criminal investigation
conducted for municipal and
federal law enforcement agen-
cies. It is the development of a
series of college-level courses
which the author has taught
through the years for a number
of investigative organizations as
well as public and private univer-
sities. In short, it is a master
course in the finer points of
criminal investigation.
