In From Dusk TIll Dawn the fertile imagination of Quentin Tarantino ventures into new territory - the world of vampires. The film presents us with a pair of hard-boiled natural born killers, the Gecko brothers, who, on the lam from the police, kidnap a family in a camping van and use them as camoflage to get across the border into Mexico. They reach therir rendezvous at the Titty Twister bar and await the arrival of their comrades. As the long night sets in, all manner of mayhem breaks loose.
Quentin Tarantino takes his characters on their journey to hell with the style, wit and verbal artistry that have become his trademark. With his visceral use of language he creates a world of menace where violence lurks just below the surface, ready to explode in the face of the unsuspection; but it is a violence tempered with irony and humour. Writing at full throttle, Tarantino creates an amoral world where both the good and the evil are vulnerable to forces beyond their control.
