NAVRON, the wild Cornish coast estate of her husband's, exactly suited Lady Dona's rebellious mood, which had made her flee from her frivolous London life and the husband she had never loved.
It was with a curious, expectant feeling then that on one of her daily walks she stumbled on the secret cove and saw a strange ship riding at anchor. Across the stern she made out the faded name La Mouette. Then faced suddenly by the ship's master she realized that this could be none other than the mysterious Frenchman, the pirate who had been terrorizing the landed gentry of the countryside surrounding Navron.
Ir seemed strange that this handsome and aristocratic man could really be a notorious pirate, and she never knew whether it was curiosity that prompted her to invite him to a late supper at Navron the following night, or some deeper force which she did not understand herself.

As their relationship deepened she gradually realized that she felt more vividly alive when they were together than she had ever done in her life before, but it was not until the tumultuous night she sailed as cabin boy on La Mouette for the thrill of a raid down the coast that she knew for the first time in her life she was madly in love.
Dawn at Navron brought her face to face again with the cold realities of life; with her lover's danger, with all the enmeshing fabric of her own past life; and before the crashing series of events that followed had reached their culmination, Lady Dona had discovered the lost keys to her existence.
Not even Rebecca can match these swift pages for continuous interest and the enchanted unfolding of a great story. Vissza
