THE AMERICAN ARCHITECT Frank Lloyd
Wright (1867-1959) exerted unique influence
on the architecture of the first half of this cen-
tury. This volume presents the whole range of
his extraordinarily prolific output and shows
clearly how his view of the world was a com-
mon factor throughout the rich diversity of his
oeuvre. From his early prairie houses to the Gug-
genheim Museum in New York, Frank Lloyd
Wright saw man as the focal point of an archi-
tecture closely bound up with nature.

numerous publications on Wright's life and

DER AMERIKANISCHE ARCHITEKT Frank
Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) prägte wie kein ande-
rer die Architektur der ersten Hälfte dieses Jahr-
hunderts. Das Lebenswerk dieses ungewöhn-
lich schöpferischen Geistes wird in der vorlie-
genden Monographie in seiner ganzen Breite
präsentiert. Dabei wird deutlich, daß seine Bau-
kunst - von den frühen Präriehäusern bis zum
New Yorker Guggenheim Museum - bei aller
Vielfalt immer Ausdruck seiner Weltsicht bleibt:
Für Frank Lloyd Wright stand der Mensch im
Mittelpunkt einer mit der Natur verbundenen
Architektur.
