FOX FARM
Jesse Falconer, the owner of Fox Farm, has been a dreamer and ideálist all his life. No match for his hard, bitter-tongued wife who in her heart despises him, he becomes inert and steep-ed in melancholy, especially after the tragic loss of his eyesight. Kate and Jesse become more and more estranged, and the woman takes the reins of the farm into her own hands, running it successfully with the help of her lover, Jack Rickaby. Jesse, on finding out that he has become a hindrance in his wife's way to happi-ness, leaves the homestead and becomes a tramp. Ann, the maid-of-all-work, aglow with com-passionate love for the blind man, follows him into the life of the social outcasts, pitting her frail strength against the overwhelming odds of such an existence, and yearning all the while for a home, however humble. Falconer who takes everything for granted, through his utter lack of understanding nearly loses his companion for whom the hardships of the road prove too much. This... Tovább
