'FANNY HILL' is one of the most controversial pubUcations of this decade. Not since 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' has a book aroused so much public interest and press attention. It is the story of a young country girl come to the London of two hundred years ago, and her escapades in bawdy houses and elsewhere.
Though it has been published clandestinely from time to time, it was only recently openly published in England and in the United States, where it was proceeded against in the New York courts and acquitted. The judge, however, said that it would never replace Little Red Riding Hood as a bedtime story.
'FANNY HILL' is, however, for adults a bedtime story par excellence. It is a fascinating insight into the morals of the time, told with charm, and gripping the attention throughout. The text used is exactly the same as that employed for the de-luxe edition. Vissza
