This book provides students preparing for the Cambridge Certificate of
Proficiency in English with the essential skills and background knowledge
necessary to reach the required standard.
ont^ins eight units, each dealing broadly with a general theme such as
Ecology, Money or Government and Law. The units are subdivided into
sections on Oral Skills, Use of English and Written Skills, within which
teaching and practice material is given covering all five papers of the
examination. The material has been chosen to give as wide a variety as
possible.

a separate key.
Margaret Archer and Enid Nolan-Woods are Examiners for the University
of Cambridge in English as a Foreign Language and have considerable
