Edvafd Grieg enjoys a unique position in the cultural history of Norway. For more than a century, his immortal tones have found their way into the hearts of millions, and his works are performed in concert hails throughout the world. But what about Edvard Grieg the man? What was he like as a friend, a husband, a musician, and a writer? These are the questions the author seeks to answer in this book, which is illustrated with a wide selection of photographs from the archives at Troldhaugen.
The enclosed compact disc, with a total playing time of 55 minutes, presents a cross-section of Grieg's music. "Morning Mood" and "Last Spring" are performed by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. "Solveig's Song", "A iSwan" and other songs by the master are interpreted by soprano Linda Ovrebe, while several of his piano pieces and chamber music works are played by other outstanding young performers.
