Festivals Act for an Intercultural Society" shows the immense potential of festivals to move borders and remove barriers.
"Dialogue" is an inspiring collection of articles, interviews and discussions; an insightful anthology of different festivals' itineraries, urban realities and cultural approaches to cities and their inhabitants; a compilation of the thoughts of seven festival directors about festivals' roles in our diverse societies: Hortense Archambault (Avignon), Per Boye Hansen (Bergen), Joachim Sartorius (Berlin), Enrique Gámez Ortega (Granada),Ye§im Gürer Oymak (Istanbul),YossiTal-Gan (Jersualem) and Ibrahim Spahic (Sarajevo) shed light on festivals paving the way towards an intercultural society. Their views are preceded by a foreword written by Commission Director General Odile Quintin and an introduction by EFA Secretary General Kathrin Deventer.
This is the fourth edition in the EFA BOOKS series published by the European Festivals Association (EFA). EFA is the umbrella organisation for festivals across Europe. Over more than 50 years, the Association has grown into a dynamic network representing more than 100 music, dance, theatre and multidisciplinary festivals, national festivals associations and cultural organisations from 37 (mainly European) countries.
