Design and Performance of Gas Turbine Power Plants Since its first successful application in aircraft, the gas turbine has rapidly become the principal source of propulsive power for high speed flight within the atmosphere. However, many of the unique problems associated with the development of this type of engine are still the subjects of considerable research.
