Diese Bildreise beginnt oben in den Graubündener Bergen und endet am
hohen Himmel des Nordens im Delta, wo sich der Rhein zwischen Rotter-
dam und Hoek van Holland vielarmig in die Nordsee ergießt. Mehr als
1320 Flußkilometer hat er bis dahin zurückgelegt. Beobachtet werden
Städte und Landschaften in der Schweiz, im Fürstentum Liechtenstein, in
Österreich, Deutschland, Frankreich und den Niederlanden. Europäische
Geschichte wird so in ihrer ganzen kulturellen Vielfalt lebendig; doch auch
Sagen von Rheintöchtern und Geschichten vom Wein dürfen nicht fehlen.

This pictorial journey begins in the mountains of Graubünden, Switzer-
land, and ends in the open skies of the delta where the many arms of the
Rhine flow into the North Sea between Rotterdam and the Hook of Hol-
land. By then the Rhine has travelled over 1,320 km (825 miles). En route
we take a look at towns and areas in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria,

Germany, France and the Netherlands. European history comes to life in
the full range of its cultural variety, but the reader is also told tales of daugh-
ters of the Rhine and of its wine. This is a river of many colours formed
of many facets.
C'est sur les sommets, dans les massifs des Grisons, que commence ce
voyage qui, au fil des images, nous mene vers les vastes horizons du Nord,
dans ce delta ou, entre Rotterdam et Hoek van Holland, le Rhin et ses
nombreux bras s'épanchent dans la Mer du Nord. Il aura parcouru plus de
1320 kilometres de fleuve pour y arriver. Des villes et des paysages s'offrent
a notre contemplation, en Suisse, dans la Principauté de Liechtenstein, en
Autriche, en Allemagne, en France et aux Pays-Bas. Ainsi prend vie
l'histoire européenne qui nous apparaît dans toute sa diversité culturelle;
mais les légendes des filles du Rhin et les histoires relatives au vin ne
peuvent etre absentes de ce tableau. Un fleuve haut en couleur et aux
multiples facettes. Vissza
