In den 50 Ausgaben der Decorative Art finden wir in konzentrierter Form die Geschmacksrichtungen und Mode- Strömungen, wie sie in 1000 und mehr häuslichen Einrichtungen enthalten sind. Seit Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts haben wir manchmal Tiefpunkte in der Entwicklung der künstlerischen Gestaltung zu verzeichnen gehabt, aber inzwischen hat sie sich langsam verbessert und im Augenblick scheint sie auf dem richtigen Wege zu sein. Während zwanzig Jahre später die Entwürfe sich vergröbert hatten, finden wir in den ersten Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts solide, dem Auge wohlgefällige und oft sogar malerische Ausstattungen. Die ersten Nummern der Decorative Art waren voll von Wohnungen mit schweren Möbeln, kunstvollen Gipsdecken und buntem Glas3 die Szenerien mittelalterlicher Pracht vortäuschteny Dinge, die man bewundernd anschauen aber nicht gerade besitzen möchte.
