This book has been written with the non-specialist chiefly in mind. The author has brought together over one hundred iilustrations, somé of which have not previously been published. These, as well as illustrating the text, will undoubtedly prove exceedingly helpful to teachers and others who are interested in building up an accurate picture of Bible times.
D. J. Wiseman studied Orientál languages at London and Oxford and has taken part in a number of archaeological expeditions in Iraq and Turkey. He has been Assistant Keeper, Department of Western Asiatic Antiquities, the British Museum, and is now Professor of Assyriology in the University of London. He is alsó editor of Iraq, the journal of the British School of Archaeology in Iraq, and the author of a number of speciálist books, and he has contributed many articles on archaeological and Old Testament subjects to current journals.
