About the Book Here is a comprehensive, up-to-date and balanced account of this major drug, which has revolutionized transplantation medicine and is being increasingly used in other major areas of therapy. Cyclosporin is a potent immunosuppressive agent acting against cells involved in the immuné response. Widely used in the treatment of rejection after transplantation, it is likely to prove valuable in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as those involving the skin (psoriasis), eyes (uveitis) and pancreas (insulin-dependent diabetes). Three broad sections of the book cover the mechanism of action of cyclosporin, its clinical application in transplantation and autoimmune disease and its pharmacology and pathology in both experimentál systems and clinical practice. Thus this volume provides both a generál review of the basic science and clinical aspects of cyclosporin for those requiring a detailed introduction to the drug, as well as covering the most recent developments in...
