The Lecture Notes in Computer Science series was founded in 1973 and immediately caught the attention of both authors and readers. Since then, the series has steadily expanded with the development of the computer science field: today more than five times as many volumes are published in the series annually as were published in the early 1980s. Now the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series is widely acknowledged as the most comprehensive computer science research forum.
LNCS Goes Electronic
On the occasion of reaching 1000, Springer has compiled a t comprehensive index for the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series in cooperation with the Fachinforma-tionszentrüm Karlsruhe. This index-is available on the. Internet, ^á an abridged version is issued as a separate volume in the series. The electronic LNCS Index is updated as r new volumes are published and includes

• the full table of contents for all

volumes from LNCS 500 onward
• the first pages of all contributions
to the volumes from LNCS 500 onward (presently close to 14000 pages of information)

Springer plans to provide in 1996 an electronic full-text version of LNCS in parallel with the printed books.
