CLAUDE PAVARD Born in Algiers, Claude Pavard is a graduate of the Institut á'Etudes Politique and holds a degree in sociology. He began his career as a consultant with the European Union in Brussels, and subsequently worked as a journalist, photographer, editor, and television producer and director for numerous tv channels in Francé and elsewhere. He has lectured and presented his films on the «Connaissance du Monde* international circuit. His work on the M'Zab (in Southern Algéria) won him the Marcel Bleustein Fondation de la Vocation Award for reporting in 1970. He is a speciálist in North-South relations, his main field of activity being Africa and the Indián Ocean. A member of the Société des Explorateurs Franca is, Claude Pavard has tirelessly worked in that area for the past thirty years, during which he has produced films, documentaries and books on various aspects of the economy, culture and tourism of that part of the world.
