The art of the Romanians in Transylvania - materialized during the following centuries particularly In wooden churches, with obvious typological peculiarities for each area - remains Orthodox In Its content and message: the Icons and the w^ll paintings, the religions manuscripts and books, attest the maintenance and continuation of the Byzantine tradition on Transylvania's soil. In the conditions of permanent, uninterrupted brotherly links with the other Romanians - those in Moldavia and Wallachla.
Very much as the Romanians in the other two lands managed in the 14th century and In the following ones to preserve their spiritual entity through domestic autonomy and through relations with the entire Orthodox East, the Romanians In Transylvania - In spite of hostile social-political circumstances - remained faithful to Orthodoxy which symbolized freedom of belief, thinking and feeling.

The church at Vodita monastery was the first to be built after a triconch plan: this type has recently come to be considered related to the architecture at Mount Athos — or perhaps derived from it through simplification. This could also provide explanations for the fact that in Wallachia this plan became the "established" type of religious constructions for the churches of monasteries throughout the Middle Ages.
