The appearance and spre^jng of Christianity on the present-day territory of the Socialist Repubhc of Romania is not ofll^i a ^nificant cultural-historical phenoflflenon, but also evidence of the continuity of the autochtonous Daco-Roman population on this territory, during the great migration of peoples. Unlike other peoples who took religion at a given date, following orders from pohtical leaders or some "official" missions the Daco-Romans embraced Christ's religion as early as the first stage of their formation as a people, between the end of the 3rd century and the 6th century. i


On the territory between the Danube and the Black Sea, known under the name of Scythia Minor — today's Dobrogea (Dobrudja) — Christianity was brought by "unofficial" missionaries coming from the East, many of them soldiers enlisted in the Roman army of that province. An important role in the process of christianizing this region was played by the Greek colonies on the West shore of the Black... Tovább

On the territory of the former province called Dacia Trajana and - North of the lower Danube generally, Christianity spread particulariy its a result of continuous connections between the native population on either bank of the river, sharing the consciousness of their joint origin.
