Charles McRaven, a blacksmith and stonemason, is known nationally for his restoration work with log structures. The author of Building with Stone, Building and Restoring the Hewn Log House, and Country Blacksmithing, he writes for a number of periodicals, including Country Journal and Fine Homebuilding. McRaven lives in Free Union, Virginia.
