Fülszöveg

The West may have discovered the East, but it has not wholly come to grips with the features of its geography or its cultures.
The seemingly endless spaces of Central Asia probably hold the most surprises in this regard. The furthest corners of the Kara Kum and Kyzyl Kum deserts and the Ust Urt Plateau still keep their secrets, even now, in the early 21st century.
The crumbling remnants of long-lost civilizations and unknown natural wonders are hidden in these lands.
At first I set out upon my trips through these distant parts alone, but then found I could not drive off the beaten track. Later, with well prepared expeditions, I headed for the untraveled regions, seeking out hidden secrets. During my 214 days in Central Asia I covered nearly 40,000 kilometers. As the months progressed and the number of kilometers grew I was more and more desperately enslaved by my passion for Central Asia, proving the notion, suggested by the striking name of a train station I saw on my first trip true: "The land that will not let you go."
A part of my heart will always remain a prisoner of the Central Asian deserts,
I only dare to hope that the pictures presented here allow something of Central Asia's magical secrets to be felt. Vissza
