nicolás muller He was born on the eve of the First World War in a small city of southern Hungary, which is alsó called the Hungárián Andalusia. He practised in his father's law firm, and he alsó worked with afamous lawyer in Budapest, alternating law with his hobby which has always been photography. He travelled throughout Hungary, and his photos illustrated a series of books on people offhe Hungárián countryside. He participated in various expositions in Hungary and in other countries. In 1938 he settled in Paris and began to work exclusively in photography, where he contributed to various important magazines. Because of the war in 1939 he fled to Morocco. He organized priváté expositions until 1947 when the Revista de Occidente invited him to hold an exposition of his representative works in the publisher's salons in Madrid. He established permanent residence in Madrid where he opened a studio; he contributes material on Spanish themes to national and foreign magazines. From time to time he holds expositions in Madrid, Barcelona, and other cities, and they are invariably highly praised by the critics. His book Espana Clara with text by Azórín appeared in 1966; it is a selection from his twenty years of travelling throughout Spain. In 1961 he became a Spanish citizen. He is married and has four children and one grandchild. Besides photography he likes music, and his favourite composers are Bach, Bartók, and Mozart. dionisio ridruejo He was born in Burgo de Osma in 1912. He studied journalism in the El Debate School in Madrid, and in 1935 he published Plural, his first book of verses. He got his degree in Law, and new books of poems appeared: Poemas en armas, in 1940; Fábula de la doncella y el río and Sonetos a la piedra, in 1942; Nuevos cuadernos de poesía en armas, in 1944, the year in which he alsó published En la soledad del tiempo. Elegías appeared in 1948. In May of 1950 under the title En once aiios, he edited all his previous books enriched with new poems. In 1961 a compilation of all his poetry appeared under the title Hasta la feeha. With a uniquely rich and varied personality Dionisio Ridruejo alsó writes for the theatre, writes articles, and is a very fine public speaker. Above all, hoivever, he is without a doubt the first among the Spanish speaking poets who were born after the generation which Gonzalo Torrente Ballester called the "grandsons of 98". His work reveals a very close relationship between depth and subtlety of thought with an uncommon formai perfection. This phenomenon is found exclusively in exceptional poets, and it is an assurance that Dionisio Ridruejo has an increasingly important place in the history of literatute. The profound and poetic connoisseur of Catalonia through intimate experience, Dionisio Ridruejo offers us its image with all the richness of thought and the finished beauty of his style. Vissza
