About the Author
Dr. Thomas C. Emmel has been a professor of zoology and entomology at the Universily of Florida, Gainesville, since 1968. He is particularly interested in the ecology, biology, and conservation of butterflies, and travels annually to countries such as Malaysia, Kenya, Russia, Ghana, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, and Costa Rica to pursue his interests. He has done a number of projects with endangered species, including captive propagation and reintroduction of the Schaus' Swallowtail butterfly to the wald. Emmel is the author of 300 articles and more than 25 books, including Butterf Lied, Butterf lie.' of the Florida Keyj, FlorSa'j FabuloM Butterfluui, and The Butterfliej of Southern California. He lives in Gainesville with five dogs, one Shetland pony, and four geese.
