"Deborah Stewart has a unique ability to make information accessible to a wide range of adult readers. She is always respectful of her audience
—Mark D. Widome, MD, MPH, Professor of Pediatrics, The Pennsylvania State University
Deborah D. Stewart first developed her interest in infant and child health as a volunteer in the American Peace Corps in India. She has worked for 30 years to improve the safety of children in cars. For a number of years, she has been the writer for a child health education program of a state health department as well as editor and publisher of Safe Ride News. Deborah also draws on her own experience as the mother of a premature baby 30 years ago and as the grandmother of seven today. She is the author of Baby & Me, The Essential Guide to Pregnancy, also from Bull Publishing.
Linda S. Ungerleider began working with families as a nurse in the Peace Corps in India. For many years thereafter, she was a childbirth educator and professor in maternal child health. She has expertise in HIV and AIDS. Linda teaches an international course on pregnancy and the first year of life in Sweden each year. Currently, she is a PhD student in international primary health care at the University of Illinois at Chicago and finds time for her two grandchildren. Her belief that each child and his family need the best start possible was a motivating factor in writing this book.
