Over a period of a year, Gazza takes us with him on his journey through therapy, detailing what happened in the sessions and how he felt, followed by an assessment by his therapist of what it all actually means and how anyone with similar issues can learn from Paul's experiences.
Gazza also describes what is happening in his personal and professional life during the year, which turned out most eventful. His longed-for position as a manager ended in tears, a night in a police cell, followed by a breakdown and treatment in an American clinic.
This is a unique story, told in a unique way, about a unique and troubled personality.
Paul Gascoigne was born in Gateshead in 1967. He made his professional debut for Newcastle United at 17 before moving to Spurs in 1988. After the 1990 World Cup semi-final he became one of the greatest stars in the game. In 1992 he moved to Lazio after a career-threatening injury and three years later to Rangers. From there he played for Middlesbrough, Everton and Burnley. Following a brief spell in China he became player-coach of Boston United and then manager at Kettering Town FC. He was capped 57 times and scored 10 goals.
John McKeown has worked in the field of counselling since 1986. He has set up addiction treatment programmes in prisons, hospitals, and charities, and has worked at Premiership football clubs and academies and in private practice. He has diplomas in Addictions Counselling and Cognitive Analytical Psychotherapy from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School.

He is an avid collector of football memorabilia. He lives with his wife in the Lake District and in London. Vissza
