ATLAS'^S r F WORLD Kisnj Y
Comprehensive historical atlases, based on exhaustive and detailed research, these superb reference works provide a wealth of factual information for the student of history. Rather than being strictly political in their emphasis, each title covers a wide range of subjects—economic, culture and religion—and the maps are based on the most modern historical and archaeological research. Each volume contains over 100 highly readable, black-and-white maps specifically designed by cartographer Arthur Banks to be lucid and concise, plus an Index that allows the reader to use the atlas almost as if it were a volume of historical narrative.

American history, from its original prehistoric settlements to present day, is depicted in this important atlas. These maps provide a wealth of historical and statistical information and cover a wide range of subjects. They show changes in the political, social, religious, and economic development of America as well as major wars, battles, explorations, alliances, and the growth and expansion of various aspects of American life, such as transportation, trade, agriculture, and industry.
Each map and the accompanying legend are carefully planned and designed to provide a graphic, visual narrative of the wide sweep of American history, and depict specific events or developments in such a way that all relevant data can be easily understood. The broad span of historical events taken into account is illustrated by the following representative selections of the 112 maps included in the book:
