Art Therapy Viewpoints identifies re-
cent advances in the practice of art
therapy at the same time that it
strengthens and develops the perma-
nent theoretical foundations of the
discipline. This new collection of out-
standing articles from the American
Journal of Art Therapy presents fresh
reports of experience and original
formulations of ideas by leading art
therapists and their collaborators in re-
lated disciplines. More lively than the
usual textbook, these essays taken to-

collection shows clearly that art thera-
pists are beginning to expand their
(continued from front flap)
activity beyond their early association
with psychiatry: it includes accounts of
work with the aged, with mentally re-
tarded children, in addict rehabilitation,
with children showing symptoms of
brain dysfunction, and children in day
care. The field of art therapy is now in
its fourth decade and Art Therapy
Viewpoints may be said to signal its
coming of age.
