A hitherto unknown version of a painting by Guido Reni, David with the head of Goliath, is compared by John Somerville with the painting in the Louvre of the same subject by the artist, and Edward J. Sullivan reviews the mature works of the Ladn American painter, Wifredo Lam, placing his exodc but mysterious works within the mainstream of twentieth-century art.
British folk art. Judaic manuscripts and an Oriental miniature are among the many other areas covered by specialists in Sotheby's annual review. With more than 400 items illustrated in colour and described with prices, Art at Auction is an invaluable reference book for both collectors and scholars.
