REVOLUTION IN HUNGARY AND THE DISSOLUTION OF THE MULTINATIONAL STATE 1918

The monograph examines the 1918 October revolution in Hungary and discusses the dissolution of the multinational Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The events preceding the revolution, the circumstances of the revolution itself, and the multitude of power struggles are traced in their entirety. 'Due attention is paid to the international situation and the foreign policy problems of the revolutionary government. A special chapter is dedicated to national (South Slav, Romanian, Slovak, Ukrainian, and German) aspirations, examining attendant territorial claims and the efforts made to realize them. The book ends with January 1919; the process of dissolution was not yet completed, nevertheless, the future — and what it held — were not difficult to discern. A final chapter analyzes the deeper causes of what happened, and penetrates a multitude of relevant interrelationships.
