From Acadia National Park on the rock-bound coast of Maine to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where Mauna Loa and Kilauea Volcanoes smolder, the beauty of America's National Parks is as striking as it is elusive. In this celebration of the wonders of the parks, exquisite full-color photographs explore the uniqueness of 43 of those parks, the diversity of the landscape, the seasonal variations and the best-loved, most spectacular sights.
With its text by two seasoned travel writers, this stunning book captures the spirit, color and excitement of these magnificent parks — their mountains, volcanoes, deserts, hot springs, geysers, forests, lakes, seashores and wildlife. The United States is the only coun-try in the world in which such a compelling array of beautiful and haunting vistas can be found, and America's National Parks is a paean to that shared heritage of the American people.

The United States is the only coun-try in the world in which such a compelling array of beautiful and haunting vistas can be found, and America's National Parks is a paean to that shared heritage of the American people.
Thomas G Aylesworth and Virginia L Aylesworth, a husband-and-wife writing team, have traveled extensively in America, witnessing Americana first-hand in practi-cally every state of the unión. Together they have been the authors of four books — three of them travel books.
Both earned their undergraduate degrees at Indiana University. Thomas Aylesworth received a PhD at The Ohio State University and Virginia Aylesworth received an MFA at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. The editor-in-chief of a major publishing company and the author of 40 books, Dr Aylesworth has taught writing, science and education. Mrs Aylesworth teaches mathematics and art, and has illustrated eight books. They currently live in Stamford, Connecticut. Vissza
