The Author
Ahmed Mohamed Ashiura-kis, was born in Benghasi on November 1918. He was educated in the east and spent most of his youth there. After being qualified in English he accepted a post of senior teacher in this language in Benghasi. He gained diplomas in accountancy, book-keeping, administration, economics and journalism.
Mr. A. Ashiurakis spent some time as a Diplomatic Attache in Morocco and in Spain before being appointed assistant auditor general in 1963. He also spent some time as a Press Counsellor at the Libyan Embassy in London in 1968.
Always keenly interested in writing and journalism, it was then that Mr. Ashiurakis really began to exercise his talents in that direction.
He had a number of articles in Arabic, English and Italian published in Libyan periodicals and abroad and was the Reuters, Associated Press and Agence France Press correspondent in Benghasi and Tripoli.
When the Libyan News Agency was established in 1964, he became deputy director general.... Tovább
