enthusiasts to devote their lives to studying them
and leading them to ascribe to their favourite
types the status of 'ace'.
Carefully preserved or lovingly restored, these
fabulous aircraft cover the whole range of designs
and include the Bristol Fighter and the Fokker DrI
triplane of World War One fame, the legendary
Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Supermarine Spitfire
and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress of World War
Two, and the North American F-86 Sabre and
Soviet MiGs of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
With Patrick Bunce's superb photography and
Christopher Shores' informed commentary, Aces
Past is a worthy tribute to the great aircraft.
