THE OCEAN DRIVE
You can see the drive from behind the wheel, but for a lasting experience, walk the seawalk above Sand Beach; fill your lungs with the aroma of evergreen and salt air; follow a lobster boát towards the headlands of Great Head; soar with a black-backed or herring gull across Old Soaker to Thunder Hole and high along the ledges of Gorham Mountain. Hike above the Atlantic on easy trails or nes-tle against a sea smoothed gránité rock as the rhythm of surf renews your appreciation of the world around you.
THE PARK LOOP ROAD
As you enter the green and quiet areas away from the sea you will fully realize the diversity of Acadia. Absorb the sights and sounds of the forest; a glimpse of a deer, the smack of a beaver's tail, or the animation of wildflowers as the visual palette constantly changes. THE ISLAND DAY TOUR
From Thompson's Island take © through Hull's Cove, past the Bluenose Ferry terminál, to Bar Harbor. Continue on ® through Seal Harbor, eventually turning right on CSD (left to Northeast Harbor). Follow CGg) to the head of Somes Sound, turn left on (JÖJ) and pass through Somesville, and Echo Laké, to Southwest Harbor. Just beyond the harbor, turn left on CK)2A> to Seawall, Bass Harbor Light, and Bass Harbor. Leaving the village, turn left on (JÖJ) to Tremont, Seal Cove, Pretty Marsh and your return to Somesville. Turn left at the Somesville fire station and continue on dŐ2> through Town Hill to Thompson's Island to complete your tour.
