A Social and Economic History of Britain,
1760-1965
The economic history of Britain up to 1750 has been fully covered in Clapham's Concise Economic History of Britain. The present work deals with the subsequent period and ends with the contemporary scene. Further, it contains social as well as economic history and it has been the author's endeavour to meet the needs of students and teachers in this field, while giving a practical introduction to the whole mass of informed and relevant writing on different aspects of development.
The history is divided into four parts and twenty-six main chapters, commencing with a survey of the economic changes implicit in the Agrarian Revolution, and concluding with a review of the pattern of the nineteen-sixties. Facets of history during the last two centuries are considered individually in detail, in order to offer a clear idea of the factors operating to produce social and economic conditions.
There is a bibliography at the end of each... Tovább

There is a bibliography at the end of each chapter, and a list of dates is arranged at the end of the book in groups under subject headings. Tables and graphs referring to population changes, trade-union membership and other statistics, form a useful appendix.
