JEREMY DONALDSON, forsaking the quiet life of an English country practice after the death of his wife, arrives in New Zealand to become the first curator-vet at Patiki Zoo.
He has had little experience of exotic animals and the zoo is ruefully iil-equipped to deal with its ailing creatures, but with a young man's determination, he battles the conservatism of staff and admin-istration in his attempts to change attitudes and establish proper care for the animals.
