A PROGRAMMED INTRODUCTION TO UPPER ÖASTROINTESTINAL RADIOLOGY STEPHEN LANE GAMMILL, M.D. Baptist Memóriái Hospitál, Memphis. The book covers radiology of the Gl tract from the distal esophagus to the jejunum. The first chapter, "The Distal Esophagus," detaiis the anatomy of the upper Gl tract and desCribes the appearance of specif ic diseases such as hiatal hernias, strictures, gastroesophageal reflux, carcinoma, and esophageal varices. In the second chapter, "The Stomach," Dr. Gammill lists radiographic signs that suggest a diagnosis of benign ulcers or ulcerating carcinomas. He then identifies their anatomy and analyzes the difference between benign and malignant ulcers. Diseases of the stomach covered in this chapter include nonulcerating carcinomas, sarcomas, and bezoars. The third chapter, "The Duodenum," describes duódénál ulcers, filling defects, hematomas, and diverticular disease. Dr. Gammill confronts "Other Perplexities" in diagnosing diseases of the upper Gl tract in the fourth chapter. He presents the latest information concerning the measurement of the retrogastric space and the appropriate treatment of the Gl bleeder, as weil as the clinical significance of prolapsed gastric mucosa and gastrocolic fistulas. The book concludes with tests by which the reader can measure the extent of his achievement or his need for review. Fully illustrated with roentgenograms and line drawings, A Programmed Introduction to Upper Gastrointestinal Radiology offers all residents, medical students, and interns a sound fundamental basis for the interpretation of Gl roentgenograms. ALSOOF INTEREST AN ATLAS OF NORMÁL RADIOGRAPHIC ANATOMY By Richárd S. Snell, M.D., Ph.D., and Alvin C. Wyman, M.D., both of The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Washington, D.C. Beautifully illustrated with high-quality radiographs - one to a page - of adults and children of both sexes, AN ATLAS OF NORMÁL RADIOGRAPHIC ANATOMY isorganized by anatomic region. Alsó included are separate chapters on the more special ized areas of diagnostic radiology - arteriography, venography, angiography, mammography, and computerized axial tomography. Opposite each full-page radiograph is a carefully drawn, fully labeled diagram, which will enable the physícian to identify quickly the major anatomic structures demonstrated in the film. Below each diagram is a line drawing that shows the position of the body area being x-rayed, including the correct positioning of the x-ray machine and cassette. Physicians who need a reliable, accurate reference on anatomy and radiology will value the excelient radiographs and drawings, careful organization, and integrated presentation of this handsome text. 437 pages, illustrated with 197 radiographs and line drawings. #802077 Vissza
