80 Years of Chemical Information from Berlin
Every year about 500 000 documents are published worldwide in the field of chemistry. Without the existence of abstracting and indexing services which are also available today in machine-readable form access to this vast amount of information would be impossible. The oldest abstracting service in chemistry was the "Chemisches Zentralblatt" which was founded in 1830 and published in Berlin from 1903 on until its discontinuation in 1969.
The fundamental idea of the "Chemisches Zentralblatt" formulated by its publisher Leopold Voss 1830, was to provide "the chemist with novel, important and interesting facts by preparing brief and informative abstracts'!
FIZ CHEMIE is carrying on the tradition of the "CZ" by producing together with its partners machine-readable services and databases and by marketing CAS ONLINE, a service of Chemical Abstracts Service, Columbus,... Tovább
