This course has been specially developed for young
trainees who will be working in hotels and
restaurants where they will need English to deal
with customers. It begins at post-elementary level
and takes students to a low-intermediate level.
The emphasis is on speaking and understanding
English in the contexts of reception, reservations, and
all front of house areas; restaurant, bar and kitchen.
There are 28 units which cover a range of topics such
as how to take bookings, dealing with enquiries and
complaints, giving directions, methods of payment,
names of dishes, and methods of cooking.
Each unit contains two listening sections with
accompanying tasks. The listening scripts are
printed in full at the back of the book. There is a
language study and practice section, an activity
section, and a vocabulary development section.
