Macdonald College was the crowning aehievement to a number of Sir William Macdonald's early interests: the improvement of rural education, homemaking instruction for women, and the training of agricultural leaders. The well-known College at Ste. Anne de Bellevue was established prior to World War I, and this History carefully outlines the development of its curricula, its construction, and its expansion. The ancestral background and life story of Sir William, founder and benefactor, are included, while the book is flavoured with witty and engaging anecdotes about many people connected with Macdonald College. The College was organized by resourceful effort and owes much of its propitious beginnings to Dr. James W. Robertson, who came from the post of Dominion Commissioner of Agriculture and Dairying to be its first Principal.
